New Beginnings....Losing the last 15 lbs

Losing these last 15 pounds have been by far the hardest to lose! I've decided to start a blog for myself to update every day or as often as possible. On days where I feel super motivated and see great results, I want to write about it and look back on my blog during tough times when I feel discouraged.

Today I made a commitment that I'm going to give up soda. I'm doing this not only for my health, but also for my children in the future. During my last visit with the doctor, they said I have a calcium deficiency and couldn't determine where this was coming from. At first, they thought it was my thyroid and took blood tests. I did a little research online and found out diet coke extracts the calcium out of your bones. The last thing I want to worry about is osteoporosis when I'm older. It's also very bad for your kidneys. I only have one kidney and I need to take good care of it so I can be around for a long time. Also, I want to be perfectly healthy when I do decide to get pregnant. I don't want my children to have to worry about these habits when their growing up either. I woke up this morning and had a splitting headache from lack of caffine. I had to take two aspirin to get through the day and be able to open my eyes. Hopefully after a while these caffine withdrawals and awful headaches will go away.

I've also revamped my diet to eat more healthy. My goal is to get a minimum of 5 fruits and veggies a day. I'm trying to cut back on sugars and carbs. I don't want to eliminate them completely from my diet, because they are a necessary nutrient, but I'm going to do my best to reduce them. One thing that really helps is preparing snack packs of fresh fruits and veggies. I can't believe the amount of fruits and veggies Dale & I went through last week- 6 cucumbers, 5 1/2 bags of salad, 5 apples, 7 oranges, and 1 bag of grapes. All we have is a few snack packs of grapes, 2 oranges, and 1 1/2 bags of salad. I found a good farmers market right on the way home called the Boys. I've heard they have cheap produce, poultry, and fish. Anything to save a little more on produce. The cost at Publix is KILLING me! Dale & I have also started eating salads everyday for lunch. We put some egg whites, shredded cheese, chicken, sometimes almonds, sometimes bacon, etc. All the goodies, but all the calories accounted for.

Today I actually feel much more energized. If I could just get rid of this darn headache, I'd be fantastic! I haven't had a single soda yet today. I can't believe it! Only water and crystal light. Ran into one problem though- ran out of water! I had to run to the store to get some more to last me for a few days.
